Red House Furniture Commercial
So I came across this commercial that pretty much attempts to present a parody of race relations in order to sell furniture. While I could see something like this on Comedy Central, or just as a parody in general on youtube or some other comedy site….not sure if its real commercial material.
The owners of Red House Furniture completely support this commercial and its on their website. They hired internetainment specialists and comedians Rhett and Link for their new marketing campaign.
There were some people commenting on the youtube video saying that it is normal for High Point, NC, and that they are more stupid than offensive. I agree with the commercial’s stupidity. Does it offend you all out there though?
Do you honestly believe that this is a good way to get people to buy their furniture? Write your thoughts. I know that although they got a small laugh out of me, they would never ever get my money for their products. I am all for blurring the line between entertainment and advertising, but this just seems to go about it in the wrong way. Maybe I am just too sensitive.
Anywho, they got their 15 minutes of fame. And I believe as the saying goes ..”There is no such thing as bad publicity.”
Till next time.
Hey Hey, Hello I Say
Four short words sums it up quite nicely: College Student Turned Blogger.
I am young and on the brink of true adulthood (or at least what the government “defines” it as). I am ever curious. I am involved. There are a lot of things that I am, but those are neither here nor there. This blog isn’t about me. It never was going to be. This blog is about society and the little bones that become joints that become the bare skeleton of what we eat, breathe, and sleep every day. This is about us as a people, all of us in the USA and even our neighbors across the world, and how we interact, are portrayed, and react to things.
But there is a catch (Isn’t there always?). The catch is it’s all about the media. Primarily television and film, with some sprinklings of advertisements, radio broadcasts, and magazines. Maybe occasional offbeat topics.
Main Objectives
- Create an online forum that will encourage dialogue about different aspects of the media as it concerns race roles, gender roles, and just roles in general.
- Review everything in context
- Stay current and fresh, open to new ideas
- Raise awareness about race relations/roles and gender relations/roles in media,
- Promote a healthy balance in the media instead of a deadly ban.
- Mental stimulation
- Cultural stimulation
- To have fun
There are more objectives, but I think that’s good to start. Hope I will get a great community here at WordPress.Till next time.
